Pentair WF-28 upgrade?

Hi all,

I have a WF-28 that is on it's 3rd motor replacement in 12 years (I've owned it for 4 of those years). I run it 7-10 hours a days depending on time of year and it's definitely one of my heavy electricity hitters, so I'm thinking about replacing it with a Intelliflo VS. Couple of questions:

1) Would this be a worthwhile upgrade in terms of electricity usage?
2) Can I get away with simply swapping the motor or will I have to replace the entire assembly and redo the plumbing? Just trying to get an idea of difficulty level (I would have to lean on "professor youtube" for plumbing instruction ;)).

Thanks for any info!
John

Welcome to the forum!

1) Depends on what you pay for electricity.
2) There are some retrofits that you can replace the motor with but they are usually of lower quality and they don't interface well with existing controllers.
