Pentair Variable Speed Pump - Over Current Alarm

Hello!

It looks like my Pentair Variable Speed pump stopped working and it says Alarm Over Current. I looked outside again and then the pool was running again but then after a bit it stopped again and has not come back on. I do notice the water level is a bit low. I am filling the pool up more now. Could a low water level prompt that alarm code? Thank you!

No.

That is an electrical problem with the motor or drive having nothing to do with your water level.

What model number pump and how old?

Thank you! I’m not sure of model number but it says Pentair VS+SVRS on it. It’s about 10 yrs old. 9th pool season in NY.

A couple of weeks ago it did the same thing where it ran and then just stopped and they thought it was the communication wire because when they disconnected the wire the pump ran. I was just no longer able to control the pump using my screen logic. The pump was still working fine stand alone. I just scheduled the pump at the pump and didn’t use my phone to control it for the last two weeks. I installed a new cable last week but the screen logic still didn’t work. The screen logic was able to control everything else fine except the pump.

I decided to just use the pump since it was working fine and just not control it with screen logic. And this happened today….

Chris,

The standard IntelliFlo is the Gold standard of pool pumps... but the SVRS version of the IntelliFlo is the BROWN standard of pool pumps, if you catch my drift.

Your problem is because your water was low.. I know this because I have the same useless pump...

Any water surge, no matter how slight will cause the pump to go into the entrapment mode. If you are lucky, you will not have to push the reset button more than once to get it restart.. For me this often takes several attempts before it will finally run... Sigh!

My builder said it was "Required".. He was full of Bull Feathers...

Thanks,

Jim R.

Chris,

Connect the com cable to the pump and make sure you are in AUTO on the main panel.. Wait about a minute and then tell me what the pump's display shows... It should say, Display Not Active.. If it does, then it should work when controlled by the EasyTouch or ScreenLogic.

Show me this ScreenLogic set up page..

Thanks,

Jim R.
