Pentair Superflo Pump Warranty

Hi Everyone,

I bought a Pentair Superflo VS pump in May of 2018. I’ve replaced the shaft seal 3 times now. Since I installed the last one I can’t get it to stop leaking. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled 2 separate seals. Inspected everything. The only thing I can think it would be is the plate where you set the ceramic seat is a little scratched up from the previous seal. I sanded down some of the rough parts and cleaned it really well, but still leaking. It’s definitely leaking where the motor plate meets the other plate at the bottom.

My question is, I checked my warranty and it looks like it goes 2 years. So my warranty runs out next month. The only problem is I installed it myself. It looks like you need proof of a professional install? Will they still honor it or should I find someone that will say they installed it?

This pump has been a nightmare so far. Really disappointing.

Thanks

You can try and out in a warranty claim to Pentair and try and talk real nice to them. But don’t get your hopes up.

Ouch! If the pump was purchased online, it will not come with the Salt Shaft seal and the warranty is 60 days. Pentair wants these to be professionally installed. Over the years, I have seen many homeowner specials and pool tech specials from techs who are not licensed bonded and insured. In Arizona, it is illegal for a pool service to write an invoice for over $1,000 without a license. If he does, you are legally only required to pay $1,000. No judge will honor anything above that. For a tech to purchase and sell one of these pumps with the salt shaft seal, it would be impossible to sell and install with tax.
If you have not fixed this pump yet, try replacing the seal plate next time after using the salt seal
