Pentair SMD S7MD72 Filter Upgrade?

I have had a StaRite (now Pentair) S7MD72 D.E. Filter. that was replaced with a Pentair FNS Plus FNS60 Pool Filter (Part 180009). The filter has been serviced annually but is starting to show signs of wear. If I was to consider replacing this filter with something new, what would be a good replacement?

I suspect filter technology may have improved over the past 10 years.

Recommendations welcomed.

A cartridge filter. The largest that will fit in your space. Clean it at most twice per year. Cartridges should last 7++ years.

I have had my Pentair Clean and clear plus 320 for 8 years now and it is a rockstar.. I clean it once a year and really love it..
