Hey Scott,
assuming you've still got the negative lead on the common (pin10), those measurements should be a lot closer to 1.5... or at least much closer to each other.

it'll be a bit fiddly, but if you can manage (or maybe if you have a breadboard or something to hold the chip), remove it from the socket and see if you get the same measurements.

Scott,

Just making sure...

understood. it's not like i haven't done that before. let the smoke out a few times as well.

chip removed i get ~.719 on 11-18 and ~2.4 on 1-8

that's what I would expect with the chip removed, which doesn't bode well for your board. I'm going to send you another one... check your pm

waiting on the board from @ogdento - should be here next week. as i sit here waiting i was digging around at how to further test my pump to see if it is working. gonna try jsnode pool control direct once i find my rs-485/usb adapter. while digging i went down a rabbit hole looking at my old posts and found (already suspected) that @Jimrahbe had helped me program my easytouch back in 2017 so maybe he can help me this time ;). not shocking it was you based on your post count. funnier as i mentioned earlier in this about my old pool guy warning me about going automated and Jim was the one that pushed me over the edge to do it! i only mention it cause i get the sense Jim has the same salty sense of humor that i do. looking back, still worth it by far.
thanks for all the help from everyone!

been busy messing around with nodejs-poolController and the replacement board from Tom. still fighting some restore issues but i found time to dig into my pump some more. definitely not getting anything from the pump even though keypad was replaced. got my cutter going again and was able to get the base off. looks like there are more electronics to contend with. i knew it had to have something in there. problem now is, how do i get to it? i pulled the screws and this thing is not budging. i thought maybe it was mounted to some high voltage plug or something but it is not coming off. pried to the point the pcb started creaking. anyone have ideas on this? did they intentionally make it a one and done part? the connector that is loose is the 485 port. it connects to this board and the keypad assembly then attaches right next to it on the board.
picture kind of makes the contacts look burnt and dirty but they are as clean as could be and in great condition.

yeah, the bad thing about these boards is that they're all potted in epoxy, so you'd have to desolder a bunch of stuff (and i'm not sure what exactly) to get the board out. And it may not even come out still if the potting is good and stuck. There was a video online where a guy cut his apart (destructively) but I can't find the darned thing.

Hey Scott this video "might" be worth checking out...

There's another guy on tfp that needed help connecting an Intelliflo VS pump to his intellitouch... but it turns out he doesn't have an intelliflo but instead has this new "Whisperflo VS" that I'd never heard of... it looked like an Intelliflo front end with a Superflo motor on it - and that's basically what it is! They added a com port so you could control it from your automation software... my gut told me that they came up with it because of all the "pandemic triggered supply chain woes", and the guy in the video above pretty much says that.

It seems like a decent pump though?... one guy on tfp connected one to his easytouch (needs a ridiculous $70 cable to break out the 2 comm lines), but my friend Dragon Tamer is having issues getting it to work with his Intellitouch. CORRECTION - he's gotten it to work with the intellitouch

thanks Tom, after some deliberation i am going to get the part off of ebay and try to sell my keypads to offset the cost. it dawned on me i go out of town next week and will be gone for over a week. decided this is my best path forward at this point and hopefully get me back up and going. we shall see

not a bad idea... and you can test your old keypad once you get the new drive. i think the older keypads (for the 011018) might be worth more than the newer replacement (pentair 357527Z) because they're fairly rare these days.

Had a little time to take a look at Scott's old board... I had replaced the comm chip on it but Aux 6 and 7 were not working. U7 (a 74hc259 latch that controls the 2nd uln2803 relay driver) was also damaged. aux3-5 work fine but aux6, aux7, and solar are bad. Here are some pics testing the chip...

Aux5 works as it should. Pin 6 is the output for Aux5, and should be high when Aux5 is turned on, and low when off. A logic probe shows that it's high, and you can see the aux5 led is on:

Pin 7 it's the aux6 output and when the aux 6 led is on, pin7 should be high - but it's not high OR low!:

I expect that replacing U7 will get this sorted.

hey Tom! so your friend got the whisperflow working? was it an easy fix? i took the last plunge on a the 50 dollar cable and no go.. my freaking pool is a trainwreck. pump and pool sweep not working right. dropped over 400 on cables for the two this week and did not fix either.

Yikes!! Refresh my memory... does the pump still have that bad replacement keypad? (If I recall you had the original one that was questionable, and then the replacement was not good!).

But yeah, I believe @dragon tamer got the whisper flow for his intellitouch system. I think it was plug and play, but I'm pretty sure it has a different cable than what the intelliflo uses 😞

yea. it worked for about a week or so and went out. i can only suspect what i bought was iffy as i was concerned and finally went out. so last ditch effort was to replace the cable. done yesterday and no change so i am onto a new pump. i have been running this one on a local schedule but got into trouble with water - i found it was running the schedule HOWEVER i'd go check on it and find it was at 0 RPM. i have checked my schedule settings multiple times and it shows right. it will run it but just randomly goes to 0 RPM. frustrating. on my dolphin support said cable was probably bad so i replaced it after a year and a half. no dice. i had replaced the brains last year as well on it so i assume it is bad. not having much luck over here with my pool
