As the title states I have a Pentair Quad D.E. 100. I am having recurring issues with the cartridges. They either crack or the bindings snap within two months of use. I am running my pump at about a max of 2400 rpm and the pressure gauge on the filter reads under 2. I have purchased original Pentair 178656 cartridges and even refrained from adding DE.

I am at a loss as to what the issue is.

Thanks

Does it say for Quad DE?

261055 is the correct multiport.

I didn’t open my pool last year because of home renovations. I remember now that I bought the 261050 in September of 2021 to replace the original/incorrect multiport.

Moe,

We have seen several Quad 100 DE filters that were installed with the wrong MPV... This caused the water to flow backward through the cartridges and blowing them up from the inside out. Happens over time, so the owners did not realize that the flow was backwards..

I suggest that you find the P/N of the MPV and confirm that it it the right one for your filter.. The manual lists which MPV can be used..

Thanks,

Jim R.
Looks like we should have caught this earlier.

I have the Pentair MPV 261055.

Moe,

That is that a good part number...

So much for that idea...

I think I might have asked for help back in 2021 and someone mentioned trying a different multiport? Home renovations kept us from opening the pool last year. When you guys said I have the wrong multiport, it reminded me that I bought a different one. I hope this is the reason because at almost $500 for 4 cartridges it’s getting very expensive. 😳
