I have just replaced the membrane panel on my Pentair Mastertemp heater for the second time in 6 years. If your heater is acting strangely, this is the first place I recommend looking. The first failure showed up when the pool temp kept climbing into the 90s. After my wife claimed innocence (she does like the pool warm) I found the control panel at fault. The latest failure involved random failure codes popping up (SF1 and AD0) as well as the heater sometimes not turning on. In both cases replacing the membrane with the $20 Amazon part took care of the issue.
Not sure if spending $120 on the actual Pentair part would extend the repair cycle or not.
