Pentair Mastertemp 400 issues

Hello. I have a raised hot tub that spills over into my pool. My Mastertemp 400 runs normal if I have the valves positioned for the pool but shuts off after a few minutes when I have them positioned to isolate the hot tub. I have a pentair variable speed pump, which I run up 3100 for the hot tub (2700 for the pool). When the heater kicks off I get a service light but no error code. I surfed the internet. It said maybe it is water flow issues, so I cleaned my cartridge filters again. No change. I replaced the circuit board and touchpad (with an Amazon $85 one). No change. Except for the heater kicking off the water appears to be circulating well in the hot tub. Any suggestions?

I suggest you reinstall the genuine Pentair PCB. The cheap Amazon board often do not work correctly and make it difficult diagnosing problems.

Check the thermal regulator for proper functioning and check the internal bypass in the manifold.

I checked/cleaned off the thermal regulator last year.

Last year is last year. Check the thermal regulator opens at 120F in a pot of water.

Not sure what the intrapersonal bypass in the manifold is. Will need to research that.

Autocorrect typo - internal bypass.

Need to find the best price for the OEM board and touch pad.
What happened to the parts you removed?

3rd party membrane keypads usually work ok. 3rd party PCBs can cause problems.

What does the temp read-out display when it turns off? Sounds like the thermister is bad and reporting a wrong temp to the board.

I had the hot tub to get to 100. temp after shutdown says 76. was 72 when I started and it ran for a few minutes before shutting down and the red service heater light came on. Just ran the pool for an hour with heater on. No issues. Without turning off the heater i placed the valves to isolate the hot tub. Will see how long that lasts.

It kicked off after a few minutes. So this time I 1/2 isolated the hot tub. I ran the incoming water from main pool and directed all water to go the hot tub, thus making the spill over run at max. The heater turned off again. So must be something to do with the exit water only to the hot tub. Water coming through the hot tub jets seem normal but maybe there is a partial blockage.

At what temperature are you heating the pool to?

At what temperature in the spa does the heater begin cutting off?

I'm have the temperature set on the heater to 100. If I isolate the pool I feel It will go until it reaches 100. If I isolate the spa the heater turns off a few minutes after the spa is isolated. The pool and spa are currently around 72.
