Recently, I noticed that my pool pump was not turning off at the preprogrammed time. After opening the control panel by the equipment, I noticed that that the button selecting between Auto, Service and Timeout modes, was not functioning. The lights were toggling between the modes, but the pump was not turning off. The only way to stop the pump from running was to flip the circuit breaker at the panel. Is there a relay switch that could have gone out? The indoor control panel seems to be working fine, coming on and off at the preprogrammed times. I did notice a thin yellow wire not connected but couldn't locate where it goes. Enclosed are a few pictures.

What model filter pump is being controlled?
It looks like the upper left relay is wired to control your filter pump.
Do you have a multimeter and know how to use it to check continuity and voltages?

Thank you! I have a Pentair Challenger pump (model 346201) with a 1.5HP single speed Century motor (B2858). Yes I do have a basic multimeter and some knowledge using it. I assume the relays are the two terminals just above the circuit breakers? Really appreciate the help.

The upper left relay controls power to the pump.
Turn off all the CBs in the panel.
Check for continuity between screws 2 and 4 and between 6 and 8.
If you have continuity between the screws it means the relay contacts are welded closed. Replace the relay. It is an Omron G7L-2A-BUBJ-CB DC24
Report back what you find.
