Pentair Intelliflo VSF has power but says communication lost. The display is not coming on but is good and tested on another pump.

A few days ago, the pump randomly started going off or not coming on during schedule. A flip of the breaker on and off seemed to solve the problem but not anymore. I traced everything out and confirmed the pump is getting power. The communication line is sending 1.8v and 2.4v signals to the pump, however the display does not come on. I switched the display/top cover to an identical pump on the two-pump system, and it works fine. I really hope it isn't the drive. Any other ideas or testing I can do? Thanks!

Welcome to TFP.

Disconnect the RS-485 comm cable from the side of the pump. If you cannot control the pump locally it is not a problem in your EasyTouch.

If the pump is getting 240V across L1 and L2, and you swapped the display for another, and it works, then you know what part you need to replace.

Ry,

Tell me how you 'confirmed' that the pump is getting power.

Did you test right where power enters the pump or did you test at EasyTouch?

Did you test between L1 and L2 or did you test L1 to ground and then L2 to ground, which can give you a false reading.

Thanks,

Jim R.
