Pentair IntelliConnect Best Solution for some non-Pentair products?

A buddy is looking to automate their heater so I recommended Pentair intelliConnect given my positive experience but curious if I am overlooking better options given their mix of equipment. Both pumps are controlled via timer which I am hoping to eliminate to give them automation via their phone. Heater and IntelliChlor should seamless integrate. Given both pumps run on a timer, couldn't they be wired via the 2 switch connections on IntelliConnect? They could use the daily scheduler to mimic the same functionality as the manual timer.

What you describe should all work.

The relays would just power on/off each pump based on a simple schedule. It would only have a single daily scheduler but that is only what a manual timer provides now. Also, they just need a temp sensor for the heater. Thanks for confirming.
