My “jelly jar” cracked due to ice. The replacement is $250 which is highway robbery. It doesn’t appear any different than the canisters I use for my water filter system and aquariums. Does anyone know an alternative to use?

Tomorrow I plan to see if any of my canisters fit.

Thanks!

Thanks. Here is a picture from online. No idea why they call it a jar versus a canister. I have multiple Pentair canisters for my water filtration for aquariums and they are $19…

I'm interested to see if you find your other jars to fit.

We're not fans of the Intellichem so we usually use damage of this magnitude as the leverage to convince owners to let us remove them.
Is it necessary to measure PH in real time? ORP is an interesting but basically worthless measurement.

Can I just remove it from the system entirely or do I need to measure Ph for an input to the SWG?

What SWG?

No Pentair SWG requires the Intellichem.

An SWG is easy to manage without the Intellichem.

I assumed the “chem” in the name meant it intelligently controlled something.

Is it just for measuring Ph and Orp (in my case) and doesn’t actually control anything?

Seems totally worthless.

The Intellichem will also dose liquid chlorine as an alternative to the salt cell. It's not married to the salt cell.

Once the intellichem is removed from the system, the SWCG will simply run based on percentages. It is not necessary, and in fact, frequently the source of imbalance issues down the road if not already.

There are a few things you'll need to do if you remove it. So let us know if you decide to go that route.

Thank you for the info! Right now I have both valves closed, so the intellichem is in a fault state since it doesn’t detect any flow.

If it doesn’t make maintenance easier, and ads to the complexity of the system, I am definitely removing it.

The ORP sensors fowl up all the time, throw off the acid demand and screw with chlorine. Disconnect the intellichem and use the SWCG the way most here use it. Find the sweet spot and run with it only needing adjustments due to seasonal changes.

@bradgray

What steps are needed once I move it?
I haven’t touched the % since I bought the house 6 months ago.

That menu will go away once we disconnect the comm lines to the intellichem.

You'll control the salt cell directly within the Easytouch or IntelliCenter. We'll be reprovisioning your automation as well.

It's midnight my time so I'll need to give you some tips when I have better control of my eyelids.

Thank you! 11pm here and the ice storm
Is just subsiding. 💤

My other jars, although the same diameter and made by Pentair, have a slightly different thread pattern and leak. What a scam by Pentair!
