The pentair IntelliCenter stopped working and is not powering on. The display is all black and not responding to touch. I turned the power breaker on/off. There is power to the pumps, valves and heater and was able to turn the pump on using the pumps keyboard.

I am attaching a picture, there is some kind of 5A switch that looks popped out and see a white plastic under it, tried flipping it but it’s flopping around. We had some thunder and storms the previous night , also been running the pump 24hrs last week for SLAM.

Any ideas on what could be wrong?

A,

Looks like you have popped the system power breaker.. I have never popped one, but "assume" you just push it back in to reset it...

Without system power, the electronics will not work, the display will not work, and the com ports will not work.

If you can't get it to reset , then I'd want to test the input AC to the system transformer either 120 or 240 VAC, and then the output of the system transformer, which I assume is about 12 to 24 Volts AC.

Thanks.

Those are “push to reset” breakers. Just push it back in to reset it. Then power everything up. If it trips again, then there’s a problem with the input power. If it can’t go back in, then the breaker is bad and needs to be replaced.

Did you get a power surge with those thunder storms? Do you have a surge protector installed on the Intellicenter power panel? If not, you should. You have thousands of dollars worth of very sensitive equipment, a surge protector costs $100. It’s cheap insurance against catastrophic damage.

I turned off breakers and then was able to push it back in and then turned on breakers and it reset again. So I think you are saying that the input power is bad? So this is for an electrician to look at Or could this be a pool technician?

Could there be a blown fuse on the IntelliCenter
?

A,

If it popped again, you should get someone to look at it. I assume your IntelliCenter is still under warranty, if so I would call the pool builder or Pentair.

If not under warranty, you need to get a pool tech with some automation experience to look at it.

Thanks,

Jim R.

I don't know the IntelliCenter layout for the digital part of the panel but it could be something has gone bad back there. You can usually pull those panels out to inspect the backend. If you see something obvious, then you might be able to fix it, all depends ... calling @MyAZPool as he has a lot of experience with the IntelliCenter

Nothing more that I can add here. I agree with everything that Jim and Matt have already advised above.
I would immediately call Pentair Tech Support and advise them of the issue. They will run through their troubleshooting scripts with you to help you assess the issue. Then they will send out a warranty tech if the problem cannot be resolved over the phone.
