Hello, I'm new on here, and have an interesting problem. Inground pool is 4 years old. Built with a Pentair IngelliBrite 5G LED light. Late last year we had a new liner installed. Around the same time, the light stopped working. In fact, if you tried to turn it on, it tripped the circuit breaker. This year, we've just got around to replacing the Light Engine Board as our pool store recommended. We tried the new light before installing it and it worked fine... did not trip the breaker. But after installing it in the pool, it trips the circuit breaker just like the old one. Took it out again, works fine... The fact that the new light works while outside of the pool tells me both the light and the breaker are good. So why would it trip the breaker when in the pool? And, what could've possibly happened during the liner install to cause it? (Maybe). Any thoughts?

Thank you

Welcome to TFP.

When the light and wire is submerged and wet you are likely getting a GFCI trip in the CB.

I would examine the light wire closely for any nicks.

Unfortunately, the source of a GFCI trip is often impossible to find. Replacing the light and wire may be your only option.
