Please help! We had the pool company disconnect the salt cell when we bought the home ( 1 year ago) because he said it wasn’t working. We just noticed that there is a slow leak under the top panel when the pool is on. I had just put a new filter in and cleaned out the filter basket.

I called pinch a penny and they gave me two choices. 1. Take out the system and replumb $100. Or buy a new salt cell and install close to $1000.

We’ve dished out so much money im trying to figure out if I can fix it myself. Please help if you can.

Welcome to the forum!

You have a couple choices. I assume the leak is not at the unions?

You can replace the salt cell if you wish to have it supply your chlorine. No need for the pool store. The install is very simple. You would need a properly sized replacement cell. How many gallons is your pool? Cost for a cell will be about $600.

Or, you can buy a Dummy Cell (straight piece of pipe with appropriate unions on the end) to replace the cell. Cost for a dummy cell would be about $35.

Hope that helps! Glad to have you on the forum.
