Hello,

I recently bought and installed the 522035.
The data path is the expected RS-485.
Everything works so far.

I had a question, I happen to notice a large RJ45 networking jack on the rear of the unit.
Also, POE is written next to.

The manual doesn't cover this networking port. It does show it in the pictures etc.
What is it for?

Thank you.
Ben

Welcome to TFP.

We often see Pentair adding hardware before they software enable new features. Sometimes the hardware never gets enabled like the IntelliValves.

You can try asking Pentair Support and they will probably say it is for some future capability.

I have the ICP and have not explored what happens if the ICP is plugged into my network.

The ICP gets its power from the red/black wires on the RS-485. It is effectively the same as POE. My guess is the ICP can be connected to a network POE port rather then RS-485. And maybe the ICP can then connect to the OCP through your network.

The ICP has its own software and server on its board. It runs independent of the OCP. I saw that when my OCP board bricked and the ICP still lit up.

The ICP firmware needs to be updated independently from the OCP. Maybe someday an ICP that is network connected can gets its own updates rather then needing to put a USB drive into it.

Those are my speculations about what the ICP network connection could do someday if Pentair decides to do it.

Those wiring instructions are standard Ethernet RJ-45 wiring.

I think this ICP is also used in the IntelliTouch. Let’s see if @ogdento knows anything about the RJ-45 jack.

actually Allen it's a different panel from what the intellitouch uses... the intellitouch is stupid simple, whereas the intellicenter icp has just nearly all the same hardware as the "main" i5P outdoor panel board (same screen, and the same ram, processor, power-supply, power-management and ethernet chips).

I don't really know what the rj45 jack is used for... if I had a working one I'd connect it and see what happens ;) But the card does seem to have more capability than what's being used at the moment... it's interesting that there are two bridge rectifiers in the top left of your pic that seem to connect to that card/expansion port... no idea what that's for. I suspect this same board is used in the wireless remote but I'm not sure
