Pentair iCHLOR

I just had this installed yesterday after my AquaRite control board fried itself. The T-15 cells were only lasting two years on average so it made sense to try a new system rather than replace the board and get a fifth (!) cell in the near future. The installer showed me the button press combination that reads out the hidden diagnostics but I've already forgotten. Does anyone here know?

Edit: the manual doesn't say anything about the diagnostic display.
Edit to answer my own question: press and hold the MORE button to enter the diagnostic sequence, then press the MORE button to cycle through.

20K dark gray aggregate, Pentair iChlor 30 SWG, Sta-Rite IntelliPro, Hayward 60 ft2 DE filter.

How has the iChlor worked out for you this summer? I didn't realize this existed - I went to a pool supply shop to ask about the Hayward and they basically said stay away and get the iChlor, it's cheaper and better (and a better warranty).

I'm trying to decide between the iChlor and the Intellichlor at the moment, and I found this thread. Do any of you who initially replied to this have any updated knowledge or opinions? My pb contract specifies SuperFlow VS pump, but it seems as if maybe I should ask about the Intelliflo pump, since the iChlor can communicate with it.

fg,

The iCHLOR is only rated for a 30K pool... We always recommend that a salt cell be at least 2 x the volume of your pool... This is because cells are rated when running at 100% output and 24/7..

Your pool builder is doing you no favors by recommending the iChlor... I am sure, when it can't keep up with the FC demand in the middle of the summer, he will tell you he never liked SWCG pools anyway because they are so much trouble... :(

Thanks,

Jim R.

Thank you. I'm sorry. My signature is misleading. It pertains to the pool I take care of where I live. I started a thread in "under construction" about the pool the iChlor will be for. It's a much smaller pool in progress at our investment property. I won't be able to care for it. I'll be in Ohio, while tenants will be swimming in this pool on the Jersey shore. I have to have a pool service. The pool builder has a pool service. He really doesn't like swg's, but I really don't like the idea of his crew dumping trichlor and cal hypo into it. I've gotten as far as convincing him this pool will definitely have an SWG. He is allowing me to choose Pentair only, because the other equipment he is installing is Pentair. He is also allowing me to choose between iChlor and Intellichlor, even though he only has experience with Intellichlor thus far in other pools he has built in this community. The pools here are all similar in size. We have a bit more room because we have a corner lot. Thus far, the small percentage of his customers who have won the SWG battle with him have either IC15's or IC20's. He says they work just fine but I can choose the iChlor if I want. He says they routinely shock with cal hypo because SWG's can't handle the sun and bather load. Our house sleeps a maximum of 12, but most tenants pack more than that in during their vacation week here. I hope to successfully demand an SWG twice the volume of the pool, but I haven't arrived at a volume estimate yet. The pool is roughly 30' by 12' with a raised spa the entire width of one end, a deep end, a shallow end with steps, and a sun shelf the entire width of the pool at the other end. I hope the iChlor 30 will be just right. Just wish I could find more info to help me decide between the iChlor and Intellichlor if both turn out to come in suitable sizes. The iChlor seems too new to have much info about it on this forum.
