Pentair IC40

Just a quick question about my IC40.

I have had issues with my IC40 after the first year. Replaced it once after the 3rd year after working with pentair tech support - freebie.

So my question now is ... when my pump is not running ... should the IC40 be on the same power source cycle and be powered off also? The way my original pool equipment electrician wired my Pentair EasyTouch 8 and IC40 ... it is always powered on - regardless of the pump's status?

Is this correct? A buddy of mine just told me they need to be on the same power cycle or the IC40 will have issues....

The IC40 power source should be wired through the Pump relay in your ET. The SWCG should only be powered on when the ET has the pump on. If the SWCG has power to it when the pump is off, it could explode.

Get that changed ASAP. @Jimrahbe can talk you through what needs to be done.
