Hello,

This may be a dumb question but I am pretty new to being a pool owner. My intellichlor used to have green lights on the cell and sanitation sections when the cell was on but this year they are not illuminating. Our pool company opened the pool and may have changed to have it controlled by the easy panel but I am not sure. If the cell is conte Ted to the panel and enabled does it disable the other lights on the cell from manual control?

99,

When the EasyTouch is in control of the cell, all the lights on the cell should still work, but the buttons won't. So to change the output % you will have to use the EasyTouch.

Are you saying that you have no lights on your cell at all?

If so, the first thing to check is that the cable from the cell is plugged into the bottom of the EasyTouch.

Also.. The cell will not get any power if you are not in AUTO and the Pool or Spa mode.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Thanks for the quick reply. Here are some pictures of what the panel and cell look like. There is power but the cell light and sanitizer output lights do not illuminate anymore. The mode is in pool/auto. The cell was new last year and part of the original pool build.IMG_2678.jpegIMG_2677.jpeg

Something seems off here, the cell light and output lights are on with mine which is controlled by automation.

Do you have an accurate test kit available to confirm that the cell is producing chlorine during the time it's running? When my IC40 went bad it didn't take long for the FC level to hit 0 and pool to turn green.

99,

The cell light will not turn on because you have no output set. In theory, your EasyTouch should be talking with your Cell, telling to run at 55%.

The EasyTouch and the cell talk via the RS-485 com port.

It could be that you have a com port failure.

Do you have ScreenLogic??

On the little display, Go to Menu, Diagnostics, then Chlorinator and see what the display shows..

In AUTO, tell me what the display on your VS pump shows.. (I assume it is an IntelliFlo pump)

Thanks,

Jim R.

I ordered one this past weekend but it hasn't shipped yet. I have been using test strips and taking my water into a local pool store for testing. I will take a sample in today to have them check it. I am praying that its not gone bad as the unit is not even a year old.

Are you in POOL mode or something else? Also can you bump the output to 100% and see if anything changes? Also try pressing and holding the less and more buttons, you should see some flashing and that should reset it. Let us know if anything changes after that.

I skimmed through some old posts with similar issues but couldn't find a definitive answer. In addition to keeping an eye on the FC while fixing the issue and adding liquid chlorine if it's not producing I'd also recommend reaching out to Pentair Support. Since the sell is less than a year old I'd think it would be under warranty. This community might be able to help with a fix but no harm in kicking off a support case in parallel to be safe.

No screenlogic, I am a cheap Dutchman. I have a black and decker VS pump set currently at 25. Here is a pic of the chloronator diags.

I have reset and also powered the unit off and back on by turning the breaker on and off. I’ll open a support case with them too, good idea. Thanks.

Sounds good, the old "did you try turning it off and on again" is always worth checking. Feel free to post test strip and pool store results here when you have them. I don't think anyone here would have confidence in the levels, but if FC looks bad we might want to provide some recommendations on Chlorine/Bleach additions to prevent algae.

But who knows, maybe Pentair or someone with your setup will come back with "this is the way it's supposed to work". I've got a Screenlogic so it could be apples to oranges. Having just went through a SLAM I'd personally just assume the worst and that the cell isn't producing to avoid an algae bloom if it was my pool.

Just opened a ticket and will see where that heads.

99,

There should be a com cable between J20 on the main board of the EasyTouch and the Surge card (SWCG power supply) that is mounted on the back wall of the EasyTouch.

Remove the two screws and drop the front panel of the EasyTouch down, and show me some pics of the main card and the surge card.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Hi All, I really want to thank you all for your help in troubleshooting this issue with me. I have a replacement part that should be installed in the next couple of businses days and am pumping chlorine in the pool for now to get my FC back up. I also just got my test kit ordered from here so I am very appreciative of everything you all do here!

Are you able to share more details on the replacement part and what the issue was? A quick summary might help someone who stumbles across this with the same issue in the future. I’m looking through a handful of posts previously I don’t think any had a resolution so could potentially be extremely valuable for whoever runs into it next!

There is not a ton to share as I essentially explained the issue and that I was not seeing the cell light or sanitation lights coming on ever even though others were illuminated. He said that this was not something that should happen and asked for some details on lifetime of the unit, serial number, and proof of sale. Getting the serial number is a massive PITA if your cell is an inch off the concrete though. I will say to those out there to register your products with Pentair immediately as this would have saved a bunch of time and pain dismantling it to get the SN.

Ok great thanks, sounds like a pretty straight forward and positive experience with their support!

Safe to assume they're just replacing the entire cell? If anything else comes up in the process, even something minor, it would be valuable to post here as well. I ask from first hand experience troubleshooting a flashing cell light, the historical posts I came across were so valuable in diagnosing the issue.

In my case it was a dead cell and $1,000+ leaving my bank account, glad to hear yours turned out better!
