Pentair EasyTouch not activating a new UltraTemp heat pump

Summary: New Pentair UltraTemp properly (I think) RS-485 connected to an old Pentair EasyTouch, but no heating happens.

The problem is that the EasyTouch panel is not able to get the UltraTemp heat pump to heat any water through the RS-485 connection. I have the EasyTouch set to heat the water to 30C, the water is colder than that, but no heating happens.

I believe the RS-485 connection is working because the UltraTemp heat pump shows the asterisk:

Things looks good at the EasyTouch control panel:

And the UltraTemp heating works. When I put it into REMOTE MODE "OFF" then no problem. I set the temperature at the UltraTemp, and it heats the water.

The UltraTemp manual says the RS-485 connector is only available on software version 1.11 or higher. I have:

Could that be the issue?

Any other ideas?

Thank you.

Welcome to TFP.

Do you have a Solar Temperature sensor installed?

When you connect the UltraTemp to Pentair automation using the RS-485 data connection you need to add a solar temperature sensor in addition to the air and water temperature sensors. The solar temperature sensor can be left loose in load center. The automation system does not use the temperature reading but just looks for resistance.

A 10K resistor will work, and is less expensive, or a temperature sensor.

You can steal the air temp sensor and connect it to the solar to test it immediately until you get a resistor.
