Pentair EasyTouch mounting if I can't mount it on the wall/fence?

Hello everybody - have been lurking for years, thank you all for all the information!

I am about to start a redo of the automation system in my pool (just finished replumbing), and I will be using a Pentair EasyTouch for that (the Suntouch gave up the ghost).

The problem is that the pool equipment is in an area nowhere near any solid mounting wall or fence. As you can see from the picture, there are two metal pipes to which a (rotting) piece of plywood is attached, and the electrical stuff to that plywood.

Here's my current plan for mounting the EasyTouch (which weights 50lbs+), looking for opinions - whether it is crazy, or you can think of another option that I missed: I'm going to replace that plywood with some beefier one, and mount the panel to that. If it was just that, I'd worry there would be a lot of torque on the pipes, which are already quite old (30 years is my guess). So I'm also planning on cutting two pieces of 2x4s (or something else - metal pipes?) and using them as posts under the EasyTouch (as "legs", so to speak), under unused knockouts, to take at least some of the load from the pipes. I hope that would be enough.

Thoughts welcome, and thanks for in advance!

- Cesar

Can you sink a wooden or steel post into concrete and mount to that?

My EasyTouch, SWG Power Center, and another power supply are all mounted to a 2-inch square galvanized steel post. Works great.

Thanks Drew, that looks solid, and is probably the right thing to do - getting that done is another matter, as don't have the right tools. I guess I can get started with my plan and gear up for when (hopefully some years from now) I have to do it again...
