Pentair easy touch issues

Hello,

I came back from a weekend trip and noticed that the pool wasn’t running. Everything in the system is pentair, pentair easy touch, pentair Ic40 and a pentair variable pump. A few issues I’m running into after seeing what was going on. The remote is showing NO COMM, I can’t get it to communicate, I’ve tried to search the address but it finds nothing. Also the chlorinator has no power, and the pump is just not turning on with the easy touch panel. I can manually turn the pump on but the chlorinator does nothing. I’ve googled everything I could think of and tried all the suggestions I could find like resetting the systems turning off the breakers and nothing changes. Does anyone have any insight, not sure what else to outside of calling a local pool company to check it out. I’ve never had any issues for the past 4 years.

W,

How did you manually turn the pump on?? Did you push the "F" button or did you use pump's control panel??

What does the little 3" display on the EasyTouch show?? Post a pic..

Do you have a voltmeter??

Thanks,

Jim R.

Hi Jim,

I turned it on manually on the pump itself.

I have attached a photo of what is on the display of the easy touch. That seems to be normal.

Yes I do have a voltmeter at work I could grab tomorrow.

W,

That is an old pump...

The fact that your LCD shows that you are in the Pool mode, means the pump should be running.. I also wanted to make sure you were not in the Service Mode..

You may have lost your com port, but that would not explain why your salt cell has no lights..

Did you push the start button on the pump?

In the pool mode your salt cell should have lights.. The system 'thinks' the pump is running.

When you get the voltmeter, check the line side of the Pump/Filter relay.. You should get 240 volts AC between pins 1 and 3.. And if the relay is closed you should also get 240 volts between pins 2 and 4.. (I'm counting the pins left to right as Line1, then Load 1, then Line 2 and then Load 2...)

Make sure you test between the pins. If you test from a pin to ground, it can give you a false reading..

With newer IntelliFlo pumps that have displays, the display will show "Display not active".. This means that the EasyTouch is controlling the pump.. Does your pump have any indication when the EasyTouch is controlling the pump??

Thanks,

Jim R.

Hi Jim,

Yes I pushed the start button on the pump to get it going. If I go into service mode and try and get the pump to start with the easytouch it doesnt start.

Yes I agree, Im not sure why the salt cell is basically showing nothing.

I am not the original owner of the equipment, I have no idea if there is a wayy that the pump indicates that the easytouch is controlling the pump. I never really looked at the pump since owning the house, I only ever controlled it by the easytouch.

I still dont understand as well why the remote is saying NO COMM, everything worked on friday. I come home on sunday and everything is going down hill hah

I was really hoping it was something simple like resetting and powering cycling everything that would fix it but its the same as before.

When I went into the intellichlor settings on the easytouch the easytouch is showing no communication wait 5 mins. Its like it has no power but It wasnt unplugged when i got home, I unplugged it and plugged it back in and nothing. The pump shows the regular settings for the 4 speeds I have set up, i assume that means it is communicating with the pump?

Thank you for your help.
