Pentair Clean & Clear bottom manifold not sitting flush

I can't figure out what's going on here. I bought a new bottom manifold as I thought maybe the old one got warped. For some reason when I try to seat the manifold one side seats flush but not the other side. The arms seems to extend enough so that it all won't seat correct. Am I doing something wrong? Doesn't seem like it should be this difficult.

I have the same style filter, but have never taken it apart that far. Have you tried reinstalling the old manifold?

Let's see if any of our members can provide you some guidance.

There should be an o-ring installed in the grove on the bottom outlet pipe. Lube the o-ring and twist from side to side as you install the manifold. It is a tight fit, but it should sit flush.

IM,

Are you talking about the black X shaped manifold? I take that out every time I clean my cartridges and it never seems to fit perfectly flat, but it is not off enough to cause me any issues..

I like Marty's idea to reinstall the old one and see of there are any differences between your old one and the new one.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Yes the X manifold. You are right it doesn't fit flush and I don't notice anything not working due to it sitting oddly. Glad to hear you have the same experience. Just seems odd that it won't sit flush
