I've been keeping this old Pac-Fab (now Pentair) Challenger 2hp pump alive but I think I'm ready to throw in the towel. The easy button is to buy and replace in kind since it is all unioned up. I'm ready to go go something more 21st century. I have a Frankenstein setup with a Jandy Aqualink PDA-6, Hayward 400k heater and a Jandy Cartridge filter for a 12,000 gal pool/spa with a single water fall feature. Would like recommendations on pumps that will work with the Jandy PDA controller. Is variable speed worth the upgrade or should I go the plug and play route.

2 hp Challenger is a super good pump. Very easily hooked up to a VS motor with lots of choices. Very easy to rebuild. All rebuild parts are easy to find and inexspensive. Should bring you a good price on the used market. After all a pump is a pump and the real choice is which good VS to attach to a your pump or any pool pump.
