Cleaned my CCP520 for the first time. Although the pool has been operational for 14 months, the cartridges weren't very dirty. The hairnets in the skimmer baskets really worked well.

I did notice some rust on the inside of the lower half of the filter housing. Is this normal or something to be concerned about? I would think Pentair uses corrosion-free materials on the inside of their filters.

My QuadDE-100, which is basically the same filter body and internals (practically) as a C&C, looked EXACTLY the same. Notice where all the rust is located - at the weld points. It's pretty common because of the physics and chemistry of welding for corrosion to start in those areas. But it's not a big deal from the pool's standpoint and your filter isn't going to explode because of it. If you want to clean off the iron oxide stains, you can use some of the liquid Bar Keepers Friend on a soft sponge and scrub the rust away from the plastic and the metal. BKF has a mild antioxidant (oxalic acid) and silica grit to clean and polish up the metal. Just rinse it all away when it's clean.

Your filter is fine.
