OK this is my fault but am looking for a possible easy fix. When I went to put the drain cap back on, as I have many times, I over tightened it enough so that it broke. At first it was just shooting streams of water from where it was broken but later (as I tried to tighten it more) it broke clean off. Two questions: 1 what would the industry do? 2. could I just put some JB weld on it and try to glue it back?

Please do not use JB weld, a filter is a pressure system and can blow up by doing stuff like that... It may or may not do it and may or may not hurt someone..

With that said you should be able to get the same threaded 1.5 inch piece from lowes, make sure it is the correct thread pattern.. I would still get the correct part on order and replace once you receive it.....
