Had a slow leak under the valve handle last summer. My local pool store recommended replacing the top portion of the valve and a new gasket. I'm having great difficulty removing the old gasket/residue to make a clean surface before installing the new gasket and top side of the valve. My question is should the gasket be glued in place or just lubricant? I'm seeing different opinions. I don't have my original multi port paperwork, my puppy ate it. Am I wasting my time or should I just order the entire multi port assembly and re-plumb it?
