Pebble Sheen issue

We just had a new in ground pool installed. There is a dark spot in the pebble sheen that was there before they did the acid wash - and remained after the acid wash and adding water as the builder instructed. It’s been 29 days- the builder added the salt to the pool. We brush it every day. Any advice on what this could be?

FLORIDA in the house!! Hi and welcome to TFP. I am sorry to be meeting this way though.

Do you have a pic of that spot before the water was added?

How about a pic of that spot before the plaster was added?

How about a pic of that spot before the shell was blown in?

I have a couple of ideas but need to see the above pics.

Hi,

Do these pictures help?

Thank you so much.

It looks like a wet spot.

They should have stopped all weepers before plastering.

Spots with different amounts of water will look different and the plaster will be weaker because the plaster contains too much water.

Did they hit groundwater during the dig?

At what depth?

Is there water nearby like a lake, river etc?

Did the builder use any pumps to control the ground water?

Did the builder install a dry well or well points to dewater the ground?

The builder said the pool is above the water level. When I first mentioned this to him, he said it might be a weeper. When I sent him the picture- he said there may be water trapped from when the concrete was done - but when the pool is filled - the hydrostatic pressure would squeeze it out- and it would go away. He now says it’s not a weeper- and it’s a discoloration in the pebble tech? What’s the solution if it’s a weeper? (Rain did fill the bottom of the rough shell- so I don’t know if that’s what caused the water? There was a rust spot in the rough shell in that area before they added the pebble sheen?

Probably ground water weeping through the shell.

At this point, I would probably leave it alone unless it begins to delaminate.

I would want a dry well near the pool to control the ground water.

Thank you.

I guess you think it’s not a pebble sheen issue - right?

What does delaminate mean- just so I know what to look for.
