Hello,
I recently bought a home in disrepair and the pool systems need a lot of attention. This forum has been amazing while I’m working through everything to see if the system can be salvaged. Huge thanks to everyone at TFP. So my main concern right now is I pulled the SWG to inspect and clean the cell. But when I unscrewed the cell I found this metal spring and bar. I was quite surprised and I have no idea where they came from. Does anyone have any ideas what they are or where they came from or why someone might put them in there?
Thanks in advance for any info.

-Chad

Hey Chad, welcome to TFP, by the way. I think you're already seeing that you've come to the right place. Help us help you: take some time to fill in your signature, the more detailed the better. Something like my signature is especially helpful, which includes pretty much everything down to the model numbers, type of water, test kits, etc.

Once you complete your siggie, start uploading pics. Not only of what you have a question about, but of your whole pad, from multiple angles. The pics will help our experts with your questions, and as often as not help them identify other issues you don't yet even know you have.

Thanks Dirk, I updated as best I could. I’m sure there will be upcoming changes as I work through everything but I appreciate the help.

If this was April 1 I would think it's a joke.
I thought the same thing! Although I had heard people putting copper tubes in the skimmer to kill off algae so I wasn’t sure if it was there for a reason. But it definitely broke the flow switch which I’ve gotten replaced.

Note: Leave the heater off until it can be fixed.
James! Thank you very much, you really hit the nail on the head. The heater does not work. In fact the screen doesn’t even come on. It’s on the list of things to repair but for now I’m working on getting the salt levels up and the SWG chlorinating and I’ll go from there. Thanks again for your help.
