Paramount PV3 won't turn off

Hi there - I'm new to the forums and a new/first-time pool owner - purchased home with existing pool last year. We have a Paramount PV3 IFCS installed, and last year I remember being able to flip the switch on the canister to "pause" and it would stop the jets from popping up. I'd do it when using the robotic cleaner.

This year, we had a local pool company come open the pool, and I've noticed that the pause switch isn't responding, and the jets on the steps don't ever retract. They're both pretty much always facing the wall so it creates a bubbling effect in the water. I've tried reading the manual but it hasn't been very helpful in this circumstance so I was hoping someone would have some insight here.

I don't really understand the system at all or how it functions (like I said - super newbie) so speak to me like I'm a child! I'm realizing that the learning curve with pool maintenance is very steep.

An IFCS creates unnecessary complexity in the pool and we usually don’t recommend it. Especially in your area. But you inherited it with the house.

Before we can try and explain the system to you we need to understand how the builder implemented it. Please post pics of your equipment pad, the canister with the switch, and your pool.

Yeah, it isn’t my favorite part of the pool. The previous owners didn’t seem overly fond of it either. I’ll attach some photos, including one from the install that the previous owners sent recently! I’m not sure it would be helpful but you can clearly see the location of the jets. Let me know if there’s something else I can add.

I wish there was a way to disable it altogether and pretend it didn’t exist but it also serves as the return so that’s not exactly possible.

Someone needs to open up the dome assembly and examine the Pause Assembly and look at the switch that does not work.

Sorry, been out of town and off line for the past week ...

An IFCS for a pool that is winterized doesn't make a lot of sense to me. But, since you have it already, lets try to figure it out.

Each time an individual head extends and retracts, it turns a little so the hole the water comes out of points in a different direction. Eventually, that hole completes a 360 degree circle. You can also push the pop up backdown to help move the holeto a different location.

The water distrubtion valve contains rotating gears that allow the multiple zones to extend a few pop ups at a time (a zone). Each time you use pause, it stops the rotation of those gears. In theory, water always flows to one zone at a time - except that short span between two zones. So at any given time (with pump running) some heads are extended - at least a little bit. Water needs to flow thru the system and not be blocked.

If only one zone stays up, either the pause is frozen internally or there is something wrong with the gears. Check to be sure nothing is blocking the gears or that the gears are broken.

What is the pressure on the water valve pressure gauge when the pump is onits highest speed (3450 rpm or so)?
