Paramount MDX-R3 vs. Dive Toys

We have an in-floor cleaning setup with our main drain being a Paramount MDX-R3.

Because this is designed to suck up any sunken leaves and larger debris, the opening is approx 1.5" wide. Out of curiosity, I found that my kid's dive toys are small enough to fit into the opening of this main train. Granted, the toy would have to go just right to do this....but not impossible. My question is in 2 parts:

1) Is there some internal (unseen) screen or device that would prevent a dive toy from going up the PVC plumbing and in turn getting stuck?

2) I have no intention of leaving the dive toys in the pool when the pool isn't being used....however, things get missed, and the kids don't have the same "clean up after yourself" mentality that I have. Is my concern of having the drain suck up a dive toy and getting stuck in the pvc a valid concern or am I overthinking it?

There should NEVER be an opening of that size (1.5") without a cover in any pool. That would be an entrapment hazard. Are the dive toys soft enough to get into the opening? If so, get new toys, that is the better option after having kids pick up after themselves (which is ALWAYS going to be done).
