I have read, and totally agree, that ozonators are not necessary. My barb broke and I am looking to cap it off. Do I need to drain my filter or should the pump be on? I could only find information about changing this out on a spa and closing valves. Since I don't have a spa, I am not sure about the valves.

It is possible that the black part of this is removable (unscrew). Would have to see a horizontal picture to see the White/Black interface.
It is likely a standard PVC thread.
If, as depicted from CMP, then you likely can get a PVC cap and cap the hole.

Hi - thanks for responding. That is my plan. I just need to know if the pump needs to be off or if need to drain filter before taking the connector off.
