Thanks. I emailed the PB yesterday asking for clarification of part numbers and contract ve what were told we’re getting. Reviewing contract and searching online I cannot find what a 5ton heat pump is in relation to a pool. Can anyone shed some light around this for me?

The heat pump is to heat or cool the pool, but you will need the make and model to know anything else.
Yeah, I agree on needing models and I asked. But looking online, most heat pumps are only rated in BTUs. I can't find any reference of rating a pool heat pump by tonnage. When I convert a typical AC tonnage (100,000 btw affected per ton), I would be getting a 500k btu heater, and that doesn't exist. So I was just curious if there's some way that 5ton pool heat pump translates to btus.

Air conditioning condensers are measured in tons of cooling. Pool heaters are described in BTUs of heating or cooling.
One refrigeration ton is equal to 12000 BTUs per hour: 1 RT = 12000 BTU/hr
5 tons would equal 60,000 BTUs, which is small for a pool heater. I wonder if your PB stated it that way to obfuscate what you were getting. That is the bottom of the HP range that goes up to 120,000 - 140,000 BTUs.
The bigger the better for heaters. You never have too large a heater, but you can have too small a heater.
You need to know manufacturer and model of what you are buying.

I agree, that seems small. The only reason anyone suggested a heat pump for our build was for cooling the pool in the summertime. We were told that we had to have the gas heater for the spa and that if we wanted the heat pump it would be for cooling only because it wouldn't heat the spa correctly. Does your quote also include a heater?
