I'm planning to put in a second outlet in my 14x48 AGP. Could I install the new one lower than the existing outlet so that I have one outlet (the original) close to the surface and one (the new one) closer to the bottom? Seems to me that would help mix the layers of water better.

Just to be clear, you are talking about a new return. Right?

When I read the title I was expecting an electrical questions…

Do either outlets allow for an elbow attachment? The only thing I can think of off-hand is you wouldn't be able to aerate (if high TA is something you have on occasion)
Yeah, another return. I get confused with inlets and outlets and returns and so on. It's a new fitting where the water comes into the pool.
Outlet is correct (return is same thing)

I beg to disagree on the aerate… you just have creative enough…

So, couple year ago I decided to blow my lawn sprinklers my self… got a reasonably good compressor and some fitting to be able to connect the air hose to the hose bib…

Fast forward to pool ownership and a day I had to raise my pH… well, time to put a tee on my return pipe with a hose bib and turn on that compressor (with pressure just enough to put air in the water)… pH goes up really fast.

If I was to add an extra return on my AGP I would either put is lower and aligned with my existing return on on the opposite side and the same level of my existing return.

My logic is with that and directing both returns to the right and slightly downward to increase the circulation (my skimmer is at the left of my existing return).
