Hi Guys,

Im on city water but on whole house filter so my water has no detctable amount of chlorine.

Intial fill:

pH 7 - 7-2
TA about 80
Calcium about 80 as well...

How much Dichlor should I add ? Thx

Should shock water as soon as I fill ?
Thx

Please see last post for details on cloudy water.

Hi Guy,

450 Gallons
Just re filled ( did ahh some, filled again fresh circulated water ) dumped and re filled

I added 1oz of dichlor right after fill.

Total Chlorine is 3 after night and free Chlorine 5 ( without using the tub )
Tub has ozone and UV

But I noticed something weird in water tiny spots that come and go, shiny kinda like gasoline spill.

pH 7.78

Thank you

It could be residual biofilm that let loose. Sometimes it takes several purges to get it all. How many did you do ? Mine was 7 years old with light use and took 3 rounds just to loosen it up, and a dozen or so total rounds.

Even if you got it all there is almost always some small amount of old water in the pump/plumbing which is now pushed out by the fresh water. Toss a few tennis balls in, they soak up oils great. if it goes away after that, awesome. If not do another purge.

They test them at the factory and are widely known to come with gunk in them that wasn’t completely drained. There are many ‘I never would have believed it’ threads here. Not saying it *has* to be, but maybe it is. If it was good and stuck to the innards, several purges are needed. Try the tennis balls. They will suck up what’s there and if it doesn’t return you are all good. Just plan on doing more purges at the 6 month mark when you drain for regular maintenance next time.

Perhaps you are seeing residual lubricants from manufacturing. I understand the flex PVC ends and fittings are liberally dipped in lubricant to make fitting easier.

Our Bullfrog tub was new last year. The initial Ahh-some purge pulled out a lot of greenish gunk from the plumbing. Even so, the first fill didn't last very long as it accumulated a vinyl odor and excess sudsing. I wasn't sure if it was the low-chlorine Frog @ease system not being up to the task, or just the nature of a brand new tub. So, we purged and dumped that water then started over. Much better after that.

Hi Guys,

I just took my TF-100 for a spin., Speed stir is amazing !

This is fresh fill should I do anything to water ?

ALK 60-70
CH 125 ( maybe 120 )
FC 5 ppm
CC 0 ppm
pH 7.8 with TF
Electronic calibrated 7.98-8

( my manual recommends pH of 7.8 with ozone, what you guys think ? )
CYA 9 ( since I just added 1 oz of dichlor yesterday )

Ordered boric acid I will bring it to 50 ppm

Not sure if I should try to drop pH ?
Or let the water be for more day and test tomorrow.

Do I need to add more chlorine ?
Is it better to use dry acid or granular
***** Correction I used flat scope of granules for chlorine test; so my numbers are wrong ****

Thx

Phosphates are generally no concern. In your situation, where you will be changing out water every few months, they are of no concern.

This is the product I had in Mind.

Spa Boss Prevent II is a weekly stain and scale treatment. It is a multipurpose concentrate that helps eliminate stain and scale formation on the spa and spa equipment. Prevent II is also a clarifier for cloudy water. It should be added weekly for effective results.

Regular use of SpaBoss Prevent II helps to enhance heater performance by eliminating the build-up of scale.

I guess my calcium is pretty low that should help with scaling

Thx

So I spoke with manuf. Of my tub they said if I will keep alkalinity 50-60 im risking delamination whatever that means ... And that minium of 80 is where it should be at.

I was talking directly with the store.. They don't sell chemicals so not in business of pushing Crud...normally

I got my pH down to 7.88 with 25 of dry acid.
I will add another 25 to bring it to about 7.5x

Then Im thinking about adding baking soda to raise alkalinity to 80, that will raise pH by 0.2

But then I will add boric acid to bring pH down by about 0.2 and hopefully borates will help with keeping it stable.

What do you guys think ?

Your choice. We certainly would see lots of reports of 'delamination' if what they said was true. We do not.

Don't think they know what they are talking about.

Hey,

I added some Dazzle TA+ ( assume baking soda )

But when I run jets and stops I get this weird stuff like tiny particles.

10 minutes later they go away and water is crystal clear.

ALK 100
CH 150
pH about 7.8
