Attached are 2 options we are deciding between. Our grade slopes pretty steep towards the back corner of our property where the pool is. Originally we were planning just to grade from the pool out but now that it’s been dug and we see how high the pool is we are nervous the side yard is too small to grade up to the pool without a mound as well as removing large cypress and replanting then.
Attached are a few photos of the corner and side yard with trees. I also have 2 different designs mapped out.
Option A would have the back and left side of the pool raised out of the ground about 18” so that it drops the highest part of the grade some so it’s an easier transition to the tree line and back corner of the property. The black rectangle areas around the decking would be plant beds to mask the varying level of grade beyond the steps.
Option B would have a 3’ concrete walkway on the back and left side of the pool and have the concrete turn down forming an 18” retaining wall that we would then use as a planting bed. The problem with this is there is 3’ less to slope the grade to the side yard.
Option 3 would be to just slope it from the pool to the property line and call it a day.
Any opinions and feedback would be very helpful.
