Well, to make a lomg story short, just got a house with a pool earlier this year.. decided to finally take a wack at the pool. Pool was left un covered (x amount of years). I cleaned gunk out. Seriously, I had 2 piles over 3 feet high of leaves and sticks.. well I shocked and scrubbed the absolute &%$# out it for a little over a week...Got it from dark green to a cloudy blue now. I can see down to the third step at the entrance (yay getting somewhere)

Now here are the pool details
Inground pool, plaster, 18000 gallons
D.E filter (6lb) mulitport valve

Here are my most recent test results
Free chlorine 2.11 ppm
Total chlorine 3.24 ppm
Combined 1.13 ppm
pH 7.0
Alkalinity 154 ppm
Calcium hardness 116 ppm
Cyanuric acid 17 ppm
Iron 0 ppm
Copper 0.2 ppm
Berate 2.00 ppm

Any advice on what next? Pool store said throw in muriatic acid then add hardness increase then add cyanuric acid
Idk if i trust them so now I'm here! Thanks in advance!!1000007202.jpg1000007204.jpg

Exactly what we're here for. :goodjob: HOWEVER .... there always has ot be one of those. :) Those test store results won't help you, in fact, they can be misleading and hurt you - your checkbook or progress. The first thing you really must do is get a proper test kit. It's the only way to perform the SLAM Process and be 100% in control of your pool and water. Accurate results, effective, and efficient results with no guesswork or wasted trips to a local pool store who only wants to sell you products $$$$.

We recommend either the TF-100, a TF Pro Series, or Taylor K-2006C test kit. see the links below for options. IMO, the TF products are a better value, but you won't regret either one of those.

Welcome to the forum!
You need to follow the SLAM Process. To do that, you need a proper test kit. I suggest the TF-100/Pro or Taylor K2006C. A proper test kit is needed to get the accurate water chemistry results needed to follow the TFP protocols.

While you are waiting on your test kit, add 5 ppm FC worth of liquid chlorine / plain bleach to your pool each evening with the pump running. This will replenish the FC lost each day to the sun and also inhibit any algae in the water from growing further.
I suggest you read through Pool Care Basics - Trouble Free Pool and even look at a few of our videos TFP-TV - Trouble Free Pool
