Opening Balancing Question

So the pool is open and in the process of a SLAM. Should I be trying to balance the TA, CH and pH all at the same time? Is there an order of precedence to get them in line? I feel like I'm entering into a pool store scenario of having everything I add change one of the other numbers. Please help. Here is my current situation:
FC= 15
CH = 175
TA = 130
CYA = 40
pH = 7.5

And just thought of on more question on the SLAM, do I adjust the shock level to reflect the change in CYA at every test interval? Or stick with the initial shock level when I started the SLAM?

If you are in the process of SLAMing your pool you don't test or try to adjust anything except your FC. Once your SLAM is completed is when you begin fine tuning your other variables.

Thank you so much! I was making myself crazy trying to get them all in line.

One more question on the SLAM, do I adjust the shock level to reflect the change in CYA at every test interval? Or stick with the initial shock level when I started the SLAM?

Once you have tested CYA there is no reason to retest that parameter for a month or so unless there is a large exchange of water out of the pool. CYA does not deplete unless you take it out of the pool with the water.

FYI -- Your parameters are all good. Manage your pH and the TA will come down some. Your CH is fine as you have a fiberglass pool.

Take care.

If the fiberglass pool is older, they used calcium in the gel coat. So you did need some calcium. Those made in the last decade or so did not use calcium in the gel coat, so unless you have grout around a waterline tile, the CH does not matter, on the low side.
