All of the other main drain screws are just fine... but one won't catch. It just spins. We tried plumber's tape, but that didn't work. The liner is vacuum tight & ready for water, except for this stall...

What say the experts??? What would be our best solution?

(Replacement vinyl liner self-installed this week.. all is finished, just doing the last bit before adding water.)

I have no experience with vinyl pools, but I do watch TV. I saw a home improvement show where they cut off the end of a plastic zip-tie and inserted into the hole before installing the screw. Seems like it would work for PVC/plastic applications.

You could use a thin stick to measure total depth of bore from drain cover to bottom of blind hole of threaded boss. If enough depth exists, a 1/4" longer bolt could find new and good threads.
