I recently swapped a 2012 AquaPlus board with an OmniPL and am having a few issues. Suggestions are appreciated. Unfortunately, I don't have all equipment specs at this time, but bear with me this was my pool but is now my ex-wife's. I know, I know... but our son has autism and I'm helping because he loves to swim.
She just replaced the filter (with a Hayward Star Cleaner Plus. A few years ago she replaced the gas heater (with a Hayward but I can't find the model info) and the Variable Speed Pump (a generic model).
I configured the new OmniPL per instructions. One caveat - set up the VSP as Single because when I selected the VSP option a pop-up on the OmniPL display asked for something that I believe is Hayward specific? OmniPL control of the pump is erratic... sometimes if I use the Omni to turn the pump ON I can hear a click in the panel but the pump does not turn on, but a few times it has turned on. Otherwise I turn the pump on manually. I thought the heater was working well through OmniPL control, but yesterday I would find it OFF because of insufficient flow ("IF" on heater control panel), but the pump was running at 2450rpm and there was visible flow from all 3 pool inlet ports. Heater inlet and outlet valves are showing open and bypass valve is closed (all are manual butterfly type), but it's possible the inlet or outlet valves are broken closed as they were not easy to manipulate.
I attempted to start the heater manually while it was still configured in the OmniPL (verified it matched with the old AquaPlus relay LVR1 configuration). Setpoint was 85 and temp was 78. Heater appeared to attempt firing 3 times then the IF/caution message displayed. So I deleted the heater from the OmniPL configuration but got the same results when attempting to start the heater. Granted the flow meter could be bad, but any thoughts about how the heater configuration in the OmniPL might be impacting heater operation?
