Older NOS Goldline Aquarite

I currently have an opportunity to buy a NOS Goldline unit with a T-15 cell. Brand new in the box for $300. Are these older units still decent? I've read alot about making sure stuff has the newer firmware. I'm not sure how old it is. I've requested pictures of the model number off the controller.

I'm currently using an Aquatrol RJ model with a 15k above ground pool. I just purchased a new pump and filter for it and am looking to change to something that has the flow switch so I can run the pump at 220v and not use the (useless) Aquatrol timer.

If you are sure that is unused, the cell alone is worth more than that. My son is still using a 15 year old unit. I had one, the same age, and recently replaced it only to move to a 60k rated system. They work for a long time and are repairable.
