Older aqua plus panel with newer pump?

Good day everyone. I have an older aqua rite controller for everything involved with my pool/spa. Lights,waterfall, spa mode pool mode, lights,heater,solar,swg. I am running 2 Hayward super2 pumps controlled by it also. 1 pump strictly for the water fall.


I am soon to be in need of replacing the pool/spa pump and would like to get a variable speed or 2 speed to save on my electric bill.( unless there is not enough savings to see it on my bill). I had a pool guy come out and say all the Hayward variable speed pumps can’t be controlled with my current automation. So I would be looking at upgrading everything which would cost WAYYY TO MUCHthan I am willing to spend.

So I came to the best place for advice and would like to know if what he said is accurate or is there a Hayward VS pump that I can use with my existing automation that would benefit my power bill or should I just replace the motor I currently have?

See if your system has a Variable Speed Pump option in Filter Configuration.

Aqua Logic/Pro Logic/Aqua Plus require software revision v2.65 or higher.

Sorry I miss quoted my automation system. It’s an aqua plus. And yes in the pump configuration it has the option of 1 speed 2 speed and variable speed.

A Hayward Variable Speed Pump should work, but early versions have very limited control settings.

What is the software version?
