Old Teledyne Laars EC-250 question

I'm hoping there's someone around here who may have dealt with this unit in the past that could answer a question for me. The burner is firing and will run for a few minutes, then it turns off, the ignitor starts it again, it burns for a few seconds then repeats. Reading the manual it seems like that is a function to save energy as it reaches temp but I don't remember it ever firing on and off that quickly and the pool is definitely not too warm. I'm pretty sure something is wrong and with the age of it I'm already thinking replacement, but I want to make sure there is actually something wrong with it before doing so!

That short cycling is not the correct operation. One of the safeties is shutting it down and then it restarts after it cools down.

Thanks forthe response Allen. I didn't see it until now, but I ended up just replacing it with a new heater which i think was the right decision!
