Found a very old qt ish sized container of pH decreaser (dry acid) in my shed.My pH is starting to creep up and wondering if this is still good. I'm gonna guess it's in 10-20 year age range. I'd like to get rid of it - is this something I can put in the pool? I opened the lid, it's dry, white, granular, does not appear to be degraded but who knows.

The sulfates in dry acid are not good for a pool but a quart should make little difference.

Acid is very stable and dumping it in your pool may be the best way to dispose of it.

Thanks, guys. That was sure quick.

Husband is perseverating about exactly how this should be added to the water - I plan on reading the label but any hints are welcome ( I sort of think i bought this by mistake, years ago, when i was using trichlor, and i was constantly having to raise pH.

Toss it on the top of the water with your pump running.
