Liquid Chlorine
Water chemistry all test within range. This “stuff” has been on bottom shallow end only for weeks. Dolphin won’t vacuum it up, but I catch it in my manual vacuum with mesh bag.

I did have to SLAM earlier this season to kill mustard algae. Haven’t seen it in weeks and chlorine now holds. DE filter. That white “flake”
is that maroon color on other side and they are everywhere.

Help!?

Can you post a full set of test results? If you only have the tests you show in your signature, time to get a real test kit.

Do you have a heater?

In looking at your pool math logs, your chlorine has been low for the last 9 days. The target is 6-8 for a CYA of 50, and most of your readings are below 4.

I'm not sure that is the cause of your problem, but I would get your chlorine up to where it needs to be so you do not end up with multiple problems.

So cool that you can see my readings! I will definitely get more bleach- I had bought it all from 3 local lowes/Home Depot during SLAM. I don’t know how accurate CYA is. I need to do a more thorough complete log.

You certainly need to keep your chlorine at adequate levels but that may not be the cause of what is in your pics.

That said, are you certain the debris is "gritty"? Can you pick it up with your fingers? Can you "crush it into finer grit or does it smear when you try that?

Well, it certainly doesn't act like algae (caused by lack of chlorine) nor calcium flakes (SWG byproduct).

How long has this been going on? I don't think your pool is producing it. It's coming from an outside source. To me, it looks like sand off of roofing shingles.

It has been going on for about 4 weeks. It is very similar to shingle sand- great description; however, it is only in my pool. I don’t see any on decks, etc.? I have wondered if it could be outside source? It is only in the shallow end. Pool is 20x40 work 8ft deep end. Shallow end is closest to house and roof?
