Funny, I would move those plastic home depot chairs all over the pre-dig dirt...sit down and imagine the possible issues etc.

Check the setback from the rear fence (normally 5ft min)....I don’t know if that bond beam, will be in it...not even sure if you can put the equipment in there?

It’s 6 feet from the back wall. Why wouldn’t we be able to put equipment there?

Anyone have any comments on Pentair vs Hayward for equipment?
Its Chevy vs. Ford. Pool builders seem to prefer Hayward. Pentair seems to be a bit higher in cost and quality.

It depends what specific equipment you are thinking of getting. Show us a list with model numbers.

Out of the 3 builders I had come through for quotes all 3 used Pentair and my friend in the pool cleaning/remodel business gave the same sentiment but Im sure for every Pentair recommendation you could find the opposite in favor of Hayward.

Are you guys going salt or no?

I think you will be better off with the simpler VS 011058 pump then the VSF pump proposed. There is no practical use for the variable flow feature. @Jimrahbe thoughts?

Skip the UV system and save some money. We see no need for a UV system on an outdoor pool.

Use the money saved and add an Intellichlor SWG at least 2X your pool gallons. How did you intend to chlorinate the pool?

Change the IntelliCenter to include the SWG.

SK,

TFP never suggests that anyone use a Variable Flow pump... They are just not needed.. The 011056 is a VS and VF which just makes it more complicated to use than it needs to be.. I suggest you use the 011028 which is a normal VS pump.. Not a big deal either way, but that is what I would do.

The one main downside to a VF pump is that as the filter gets full, the pump speed will increase to keep the flow the same.. What you really want is for the flow to decrease to let you know that the filter is dirty.. Yes the filter has a pressure gauge, but it is often out of sight and out of mind. Simple is almost always better.. :)

I think you are making a serious mistake not getting the IntelliCenter with the included SWCG (Saltwater Chlorine Generator).. Saltwater pools are the easiest possible types of pools to maintain.

Having an ozone system is just a waste of money unless it is for an indoor pool...

I am not a fan of in floor cleaning systems, but you see a lot of them in AZ.. I would want to make sure that the system is plumbed so that the IFCS can be shut off or turned on.. Even if the system works perfectly when new, there might be a time when it is down for maintenance and you want it off.. Many IFCS are integrated into the pool so that you can't run the pool by itself. Again, simple is almost always better and the IFCS makes a pool about 10 x more complex to repair than a standard pool.

I think you will have to have several more light transformers, as I believe you will need one for each light that you want to individually control.. I would ask your PB just to make sure.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Thanks everyone! I’ll look into the difference between the pumps however on the SWG I have natural stone pavers (marble) and I’m worried about them corroding over time. I also really don’t like the feeling is salt water on my skin after I get out of the pool, it makes me feel flaky 😂. I was looking at getting chlorine injection however to make it easier to maintain. If someone has some ideas on the flakiness and maybe a sealant for the natural stone then I’m all in!
