I have a problem since installing a new VSP. It seems that at 2850 RPM, the lid pops off my cartridge filter since I cleaned it today (used to be ok). I suspect the o-ring not being lubed is the problem.

It is a Carvin cartridge filter and in the manual, it is written to use petroleum jelly on the o-ring.

This seems to be against all what is recommended on this forum, I even called the installer of the pool (this is a new pool) and they recommended petroleum jelly.

I guess worst that can happen is I need to buy a new o-ring?

Is it the filter in the picture. Unless the lock ring is not completely in the "locked" position, either the ring is damaged or the threads on the tank are. That's how a filter lid could pop off.

Hi,

Sorry for not replying earlier.

They changed my filter for a newer one, slightly bigger with a better locking mechanism (Carvin sherlock 160).

I have it lubed now, works great.
