Hello all!

Am about to put down a deposit with my PB and am still waiting to finally choose a mason to work with him. Would welcome any input!

First three photos are what we have now.

PB estimate includes:
1) Latham natural grey liner (photo 5)
2) all new schedule 40 2” pvc plumbing
3) New Hayward wide mouth skimmers relocated from angled corners to deep end short wall
4) Hayward aqua rite 940 SWG
5) Hayward white led light
6) Hayward H400FDP propane heater
7) brass ladder and handrail jigs
8) Loop loc anchors drilled/installed for existing cover
9) remove old plastic coping and add top mount extrusion
10) close pool

Any thoughts here?

Mason will:
1) demo/remove old brick (just sitting on sand) and white fence/arch
2) install coping, deck, and walkway pavers.

BUT WHAT TO CHOOSE? Our house and landscaping are very traditional. We like three very different looks:
a) replace brick for a look like photo 4
b) super clean & modern (too modern?) techo-bloc para XL slabs in greyed nickel with smaller matching pieces for walkway and decking (photo 7)
c) Cambridge 4Pc timber stone in Birchwood with a darker contrasting ledge stone coping (photo 6...pardon my shadow!)

All these would, I hope, look good with the Latham Natural Grey liner. So hard to visualize!!

TIA for any and all suggestions/advice!!

I have to say I like how it looks now LOL

I could NOT do the past picture.

The one with your shadow is pretty and would work with your yard. I also like the brick one with the coping.

Thank you @kimkats! I like the traditional brick too but I just fear a repeat series of issues with weeds, moss, anthills, etc. Family consensus is definitely the Cambridge timber stone (shadow pic). Looks like that’s what we’re going with!!!

The new design looks fabulous but I'm wondering if you really need to do half the work mentioned (excavation, replacing plumbing, etc) - that's a lot of work and a major expense. If you go this way, make sure the new fill is tamped down properly under the new deck so you don't get subsidence down the road.

Thank you! I too was trying to figure out where to save a few $$$. Forego the heater? The SWG? We have a leak in the return lines somewhere (We have air bubbles, and lose enough to have top off the pool almost every day) so I figured while the deck was torn up we may as well replace everything and then be good for a while!!!)

PB strongly suggested 2” plumbing and streamlining location of returns and skimmers for better flow. We have no main drain.

Am I getting taken for a ride on that?

Thanks for fill tadvice!

Also, does anyone have thoughts about replacing ladder and handrails? Is it worth it? Any brand or style suggestions? PB does not like the ones we have because they’re set in the coping instead of the pavers. He also said we probably don’t need two handrails for 4’ steps.

After reading a few posts about ladders and anchors, it seems that I need to get new ones and have them in hand so the mason can set anchors properly in the deck rather than the coping.

Thinking about Saftron which work for SWG pools, don’t rust, and also doesn’t have to be bonded.

Does anyone have photos of black or grey Saftron rails or ladders?
