Hi,
I am deciding which plaster to get for my pool. I can’t decide between stonescapes pebbles mini or polishedscapes. Polishedscapes is an aggregate mix or marble and glass that is later polished with diamond abrasives. Its extremely smooth and nice looking. The builder says that it has the same longetivity as mini pebbles and can be polished again, pebbles can not be polished. It’s more expensive than mini pebbles (2k). Does anyone have experience with this polishedscapes product, and would it last as long as mini pebbles?
I don’t mind paying more for it, but not if it will have a shorter life span than regular mini pebbles. My builder is a big pool company that provides 10year warranty on both products.

Tolian,

Welcome to TFP!

I know nothing about this topic but let me see if I can get somebody to help. @kimkats. Kim, you seem to know a lot about finishes, can you help?

Good luck!

Chris

10year warranty on both products gives you your basic answer.

No one can say how long either finish will last beyond the warranty period before it needs replacement. Depends on too many external variables including how well the water chemistry is maintained through the years.

Pebble plasters are known to last a long time: 15-20 years, if proper water chemistry is maintained. But I can not find much information on longevity of polished exposed aggregates that have marble and glass. If it has the same life span as say quartz, then I dont see a reason to pay premium for it

I had Hydrazzo plaster last 17 years and then need to be replaced due to rebar rusting, not plaster failure.

Aggregate pool finishes are the new generation of pool plaster surfaces. They consist of white or coloured plaster mixed with small pieces of quartz, granite, river stones, or glass beads. Aggregates come in two forms: polished and exposed.
Hydrazzo Crystalline Plaster is a polished aggregate. On the day following the application of the Hydrazzo plaster to the pool interior, the total pool interior surface is polished with diamond discs to bring out all the depths of colour locked inside the medium. This process also results in a strengthened pool coating and a fantastically smooth surface.

So did you go with Polishedscapes? We are in this exact situation now.
