Polaris p825.

Floating cable got chewed, severing 2 of the 3 wires near the control unit. Stripped the wires and when I twist them together, i get power.

i could splice them with electrical caps but will have to ensure it lives under cover and isnt ever out in weather. Cant figure out a way to splice, tape and keep it together longterm. Any ideas?

Looks like you can get a used replacement online for about $150 or brand new for some ungodly price in the 300to400 range. If i get a replacement, any suggestions? Thanks! Marc

Marc,

I assume your cable is for a robot cleaner.. If so, they use low voltage DC, so there is no real danger using electrical tape..

You could solder the wires together and then tape up each wire separately then the whole thing. Your power supply should not be out in the rain to begin with..

Thanks,

Put the wires together using the kit referenced (or one like it) shrink the tubing, wrap with tape or get larger shrink tubing and it will be good.

I'd do like Jim suggested and would add heat shrink over each conductor and a larger heat shrink over the entire cable end. The purpose of the heat shrink is to insulate if it gets wet to keep it from shorting out plus it adds a level of stress relief.

Hope this helps.
